The CAP Systems, (Central Air Purifiers) feature true HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration, designed to capture at least 99.97% of contaminants at 0.3 microns in size. These state-of-the-art systems are specifically designed to provide optimum performance against microscopic airborne pathogens, allergens, irritants, and odors. They are often recommended by allergists, pediatricians, and other health professionals to provide their patients with the very best in home air purification. Several models are available, the CAP600, CAP600-UVP and the CAP1200-UVP.
Standard CAP600 Model
This model is equipped with three stages of filtration. The first stage is a furnace-type throwaway filter designed to capture coarse particulates and to extend the life of the subsequent filters. The second stage is a dual-purpose pleated filter, with a layer of particulate media for capturing finer visible particles, and a layer of carbon media for removing gases, VOCs, and odors. An optional heavy-duty granular carbon filter is also available for homes with more severe VOC or odor problems from smokers, pets, or cooking. The final stage HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter is tested and certified to be at least 99.97% efficient for capturing particles as small as 0.3 microns in size, such as bacteria, mold and fungal spores, pollens, and lung-damaging particles.
In the partial bypass configuration, a portion of the air in the HVAC return is pulled into the unit and purified on each pass through the system. This enables CAP600 models to provide 50 to 60 clean air changes per day in an 1800 square foot home.
Dirty air is pulled through a 1" deep throw-away prefilter that removes large, visible, particulate matter, and extends the life of subsequent filters. Typical filter life is 3 months.
The pleated 2" deep second stage filter removes most remaining visible particles. A second layer of carbon media absorbs moderate gases and odors. A special high capacity granular carbon filter is available for homes with heavier odor problems.
The powerful backward-curved motorized impeller provides more than double the peak static capacity or forward curved squirrel cage blowers. This enables CAP600 models to significantly increase the amount of air filtered, especially as filters load, and increases filter life.
The highly efficient motorized impeller consumes only 150 watts of energy, which can save homeowners hundreds of dollars annually in electrical consumption compared to insufficient squirrel cage blowers.
The UV Plus lamp (CAP600-UVP model) combines UVGI and Photolysis technologies to destroy bacteria, viruses, molds, and fungi, and break down VOCs and odors.
The UL Class II HEPA filter is designed to remove 99.97% of microscopic impurities from the air, including organisms killed by the lamp, to ensure that highly purified air is exhausted back into the HVAC system.
CAP600-UVP Model
This "best of the best" model provides homeowners with the ultimate in central air purification. The CAP600-UVP offers all of the features of the standard CAP600 model, combined with the added benefits of our UV Plus (UVGI + ozone) technology. The UV Plus lamp is installed on the inlet side of the HEPA filter to continuously irradiate passing contaminants and kill biological contaminants trapped on the HEPA media. A safety interlock switch and other design features prevent any possibility of direct exposure to UVGI radiation. An ozone-free model (CAP600-UV) is also available.

The CAP600 series features true HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration, designed to capture at least 99.97% of contaminants at 0.3 microns in size. These state-of-the-art systems are specifically designed to provide optimum performance against microscopic airborne pathogens, allergens, irritants, and odors. They are often recommended by allergists, pediatricians, and other health professionals to provide their patients with the very best in home air purification. Two models are available, the CAP600 and the CAP600-UVP.Self-Powered
CAP600 models are equipped with a powerful and efficient motorized impeller to pull air through the filters, and designed for installation into the HVAC system in a "partial bypass" configuration, (See Diagram Below). This installation enables the CAP600 unit to pull a significant portion of the air (typically about 50%) out of the HVAC return and cleanse it through a series of filters, without adding any static load to the HVAC motor/blower. The air exhausted back into the HVAC system is cleaner than that in most hospital operating suites. CAP600 models can provide approximately 60 clean air changes per day in an 1800 square foot home.Partial Bypass Installation
The bypass connections are made by cutting a 10-inch diameter hole into the return duct, and connecting the inlet of the CAP600 model to the return duct with 10-inch rigid or flexible ducting. The exhaust of the CAP600 is similarly connected back into the return duct or furnace plenum downstream from the inlet connection to complete the "bypass loop". Continuous operation of the HVAC fan and the CAP600 unit is recommended for maximum air cleaning performance.
